Allen Rosenfeld, Senior Vice President, brings more than two-decades of public policy experience to M+R on issues ranging from food and agriculture to energy foreign aid, telecommunications, and transportation. He specializes in assessing, planning, and managing issue campaigns for nonprofits, foundations and coalitions. Allen is an expert on advocacy and rapid-response research and materials development. As an economist, he focuses on analyzing the impacts of public policies. Allen received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1986 and resides in Northern California.

C.B. Pearson, Missoula Office Director, has been a public interest advocate for more than 30 years, specializing in grassroots organizing, media and issue advocacy, coalition building, civic skills training and nonprofit management. C.B. began his public interest career with the Colorado Public Interest Research Group. For two years, he worked as an organizer for Ralph Nader, primarily in the West and Midwest. Pearson was the first director of the Montana PIRG in 1982. In addition, he was the executive director and lobbyist for Montana Common Cause and the Clark Fork Coalition. C.B. has been the campaign manager for numerous innovative consumer and public health policy successes, including the successful 1996 Initiative 125 to prohibit corporate funding of ballot issues, which passed with 52% of the vote. Others of note are Cap the Rate, several tobacco disease prevention policies (tobacco tax increase, Montana Clean Indoor Air Act, the tobacco trust fund), and campaign finance reform laws. He has managed nine Montana initiative/referenda campaigns. Prior to joining M+R, he ran his own consulting firm, working with nonprofits and taught the Environmental Organizing Semester at the University of Montana.

Hilary Zwerdling, Senior Vice President, has nearly a decade of experience in nonprofit and political organizing and strategy. Since joining M+R in 2006, she has developed major online fundraising and advocacy campaigns for groups like AARP, the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, and NARAL Pro-Choice America. Prior to joining M+R, she worked as an online strategy consultant for Congressional offices, political campaigns and advocacy organizations. Hilary also served as deputy political director for a U.S. Senate race and spearheaded consumer and environmental advocacy campaigns with Green Corps, the field school for environmental organizing.

Jessica Bosanko, Vice President, has been designing effective online advocacy, fundraising and recruitment strategies for non profits for nearly a decade. She’s helped the William J. Clinton Foundation, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and Human Rights Campaign run and grow sophisticated online fundraising and advocacy programs, including peer-to-peer fundraising for WCS’ 5K Run for the Wild, with locations at the Bronx Zoo and New York Aquarium.  A co-author of the 2010 Nonprofit Text Messaging Benchmarks study, she has also advised a variety of non profits on how to incorporate text messaging into their advocacy and fundraising programs.   Before joining M+R in 2007, she honed her skills as an online marketer at Environmental Defense Fund and an online organizer and offline fundraiser with the state PIRGs, directing door-to-door canvass offices in San Diego and Pittsburgh.

Leslie Kerns, Senior Vice President, Director of Campaigns, is an expert on strategic communications, media relations and integrated campaigns. A former attorney, Leslie leverages her public policy and advocacy skills to position, message and gain attention for non-profits, foundations and their campaigns. Since joining M+R in 2008, she has helped build and launch a national transportation campaign with Smart Growth America and Reconnecting America, brand a global client protection campaign targeting microfinance institutions and leaders with ACCION International, and develop creative PR programs to engage online donors with GlobalGiving. Leslie’s other current and past clients include the MacArthur Foundation, American Lung Association, USAgainstAlzheimer’s, 350.org, Save Darfur Coalition, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, and American Jewish World Service. Leslie joined M+R after managing the Public Affairs Group at Solomon McCown & Company in Boston.

Lori Fresina, Senior Vice President and New England Office Director, joined M+R in 2006 to open a New England office and build upon her experience in advocacy training and coaching.  Her Power Prism® model of advocacy training, campaign planning, assessment, and evaluation has become a popular platform for clients including the Susan G. Komen Advocacy Alliance, The College Board, Habitat for Humanity, and the American Heart Association.  Lori was introduced to M+R while she was employed at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK), where she served as the Northeast Regional Advocacy Director.  Prior to joining CTFK, Lori served in a variety of advocacy leadership positions at the American Cancer Society where she lobbied and managed a number of cancer policy campaigns, including Smoke-Free New England.  Lori has an expertise in community mobilization strategies, regional collaborations and training and communications for a political audience.  The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Jaycees named Lori one of the “Ten Outstanding Young Leaders of 2002″.

Marc Ruben, Senior Vice President, is the head of M+R’s Boston office.  Marc has nearly a decade of experience in nonprofit communications and strategy, and since joining M+R in 2005 he has headed up major online fundraising and advocacy initiatives for groups like the Human Rights Campaign, Oxfam America, the American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society.  Prior to joining M+R, he helped MoveOn.org organize over 180 rallies across the country and served as Communications and Policy Coordinator for Palladia, a New York nonprofit with 500 staff and 25 programs.  Marc is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale University.

Marjory Garrison, Senior Vice President, helps groups like Easter Seals, Mercy Corps, Center for Science in the Public Interest, and AARP design multifaceted campaigns and programs that cut across online and offline platforms.  Marjory oversees M+R’s team of creative specialists who provide focused expertise on writing, integrated campaign strategy, technology, and graphic design to communications, field and online clients.  Through in-depth research, integrated messaging and creative direction, Marjory helps organizations assess their issues and brand and market their campaigns.

Michael O’Loughlin, NYC Office Director, specializes in developing and executing integrated strategies for issue-advocacy campaigns.  Michael is currently serving as lead campaign strategist and manager for the Campaign for New York’s Future, a broad coalition of city groups united around Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s bold and visionary PlaNYC goals to make a cleaner, healthier and more livable New York.  His work with other M+R clients includes managing NY-based grassroots strategy for the Save Darfur Coalition, mobilizing citizens to propose and pass New York’s Smoke-Free Workplace Act, and coordinating grassroots turnout for “Listening to the City,” the historic meeting that rewrote plans for rebuilding Lower Manhattan after 9/11.  Michael has also organized campaign operations for New York City mayoral and New York State legislative campaigns.  Prior to joining M+R, he managed a variety of organizing and advocacy projects with the New York Public Interest Research Group.  He received his degree from Princeton University.

Michael Ward, Executive Vice President, provides strategic online fundraising and advocacy guidance to major nonprofit clients including AARP, Doctors Without Borders, William J. Clinton Foundation, and others. Michael helps M+R clients develop long-term online marketing and fundraising plans, evaluate what new technologies will deliver the highest return on investment, and integrate online programs with offline advocacy and fundraising efforts. Before coming to M+R, Michael worked for a project of the Rockefeller Family Fund helping leading pro-choice and environmental organizations break into online organizing. Since 1992, Michael has pioneered the use of the Internet as an effective advocacy tool.

Steve Daigneault, Senior Vice President, puts his 15 years of experience as a grassroots organizer, communications specialist and online strategist to work for M+R clients like the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, PBS and Conservation International. Steve recently co-authored Storytelling and the Art of Email Writing, an in-depth analysis for why stories don’t always work and what key elements stories need in order to raise money.  Before coming to M+R, Steve served as the Managing Director for Internet Communications at Amnesty International USA, where he developed an email strategy that nearly tripled Amnesty’s list in less than three years and helped grow Amnesty’s online fundraising program, even in the midst of the September 2008 stock market crash.

Susan Stamler, Senior Vice President, at M+R Strategic Services manages the National Campaign to Reform State Juvenile Justice Systems that seeks state level policy changes in juvenile justice systems. For more than thirty years, Susan has organized grassroots support for social justice, environmental and consumer issues. Prior to joining M+R, Susan worked for 17 years advocating on behalf of settlement houses and community centers at United Neighborhood Houses, the federation of settlement houses in New York City, and for UJA-Federation of New York. She supervised a policy staff, analyzed government policies and budgets, mobilized grassroots support and lobbied on both the State and City level to increase funding and improve the delivery of critical human services programs. Susan has also coordinated political activities to mobilize and activate pro-choice voters at Planned Parenthood Federation of America and was one of the founders of the New York AIDS Coalition.
