National Direct Student Loan Coalition
During the past five years, M+R has managed quarterly Lobby Days for the National Direct Student Loan Coalition, a volunteer-based nonprofit organization made up of college and university student financial aid directors from around the country. M+R consistently organizes targeted Congressional meetings for the Coalition, in addition to meetings with senior U.S. Department of Education officials, university federal relations officers, student groups, and allied lobbyists from other higher education associations.
In 2004, M+R organized the 10th Anniversary celebration of the William D. Ford Direct Student Loan Program, which was one of Coalition’s most well-received events in Washington, D.C. The three-day conference brought together more than 80 direct loan school representatives from around the country with Members of Congress, their staff, representatives from higher education associations, student groups, the media, and direct loan advocates, including former Congressman Bill Ford. M+R continues to serve the Coalition year-round, directing event logistics and design.
With M+R’s help, NDSLC has become well-known in Washington as a powerful voice for students and institutions seeking continued improvements to all direct loan programs. |
