Susan G. Komen® for the Cure

Since 2002, M+R has helped Susan G. Komen for the Cure® successfully:
- Build a powerful base of over 165,000 online supporters known as Komen eChampions;
- Mobilize these supporters to take action offline by writing letters to the editor, calling their representatives and making donations to support the organization’s important work; and
- Advance lifesaving breast cancer legislation at the state and federal levels!
When M+R first started working with Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the organization had no capacity for online advocacy. We helped launch ActNowEndBreastCancer.org, a virtual advocacy forum where supporters could take action to influence their representatives on breast cancer policy. We then helped kick-start Komen's new online presence with an integrated online marketing campaign that fueled recruitment through:
Donated banner ads (PSAs) on 65 prominent and relevant DotComs;
- Earned media coverage in over 100 online outlets, such as Elle.com and Real Simple Magazine;
- Attention and buzz in popular blogs and online journals;
- Industry recognition for ActNowEndBreastCancer.org, which received five online awards;
- Guerilla marketing on online forums, discussion groups and listservs; and
- Paid advertising to reach the campaign’s target audiences!
