The ability to help clients think, speak and act strategically is one of M+R’s defining qualities. Through in-depth analysis, planning and ongoing evaluation, we help clients focus their efforts – and refocus them, as needed – in order to build and run effective, creative and sustainable communications programs and campaigns.
Issue Assessments. M+R works with major foundation and nonprofit partners to accurately and impartially evaluate communities and issues. We then put our findings to work on the local, state and national levels, developing plans to engage the media, the public and policymakers on some of the toughest issues of the day.
Communications Audits. At M+R, we guide clients through comprehensive evaluations of communications challenges and opportunities, identifying how an organization is perceived by target audiences. We do this through in-depth research that often includes confidential interviews with an organization’s internal and external stakeholders. Focused, honest, and always revealing, our communications audits create a solid framework upon which an organization can build its communications strategy and capabilities.
Communications Planning. M+R collaborates with our clients to prepare communications plans that set realistic objectives and provide a clear roadmap for achieving them. Our communications plans combine traditional public relations with social marketing and multi-media tactics, and coordinate these efforts with the other great aspects of an organization, such as fundraising, online and offline advocacy, and more.
Strategic Messaging. M+R helps organizations crystallize key messages and solidify their brand positioning, ensuring that they stay true to their “voice.” Our process is tailored to match the needs, objectives and resources of each client, but the outcome is always the same: a clear, consistent and compelling messaging platform and ‘elevator pitch’ designed to reach key audiences and enhance an organization’s brand.
Thought Leadership. It’s not by chance that our clients are known for being leaders in their communities. At M+R, we help organizations go beyond traditional media relations to position themselves as thought leaders and innovators who inspire action and create change. We work with clients to develop and execute a thoughtful strategy for increasing their recognition among peers, funders, grantees, media, and competitors.
Strategic Advisement. M+R’s senior staff works on a confidential basis with executive directors and board members of major national and international nonprofits in order to help them rethink and reshape the character and goals of their organizations. We apply our years of expertise to a client’s specific needs and concerns in order to evaluate an organization’s capabilities or build a new approach to some element of their work.
