Organizational Assessments

M+R works with nonprofits to develop organizational structures and processes that maximize the effectiveness of their fundraising, communications and public-facing advocacy programs.

Too often, nonprofits operate in silos, with different departments duplicating each others’ work or not collaborating as effectively as they could. Often processes developed organically over the years no longer fit an organization’s current goals and tasks, and don’t meet existing supporters’ needs. These challenges result in decreased efficiency, a reduction in capabilities, lost revenue and lower staff satisfaction and retention.

To help our clients address these challenges, our organizational structure evaluations include:

  • Examining each department’s goals and activities, organizational chart, processes, and existing methods of collaboration;
  • Matching these with broader organizational objectives and short and long-term goals;
  • Using a collaborative process including interviews, cross-team meetings and material reviews to guide the nonprofit towards the organizational structure and processes that meet its current and future needs; and
  • Aligning departmental goals and metrics so that everyone is pulling in the same direction.
