Benchmarks 2026 sign-ups are live!

Hey there! Listen, we know you are super busy doing all the important work fighting for a better and just world. So we will cut right to the chase — it’s time to sign up to participate in Benchmarks 2026!

Studies like these are more important than ever as our industry faces unprecedented attacks and challenges. Having robust data to show what’s working and what’s not helps nonprofits allocate precious resources appropriately. And coming together to share information and best practices strengthens our community.

The M+R Benchmarks Study is our annual exploration of nonprofit digital programs — web traffic, email, advertising, fundraising, and more. We rely on data and survey responses from a wide range of nonprofits for both studies, and we hope you’ll join us for the 2026 edition!

Participation is pretty dang simple:

  • We’ll provide detailed instructions outlining the data you’ll need to pull. This mostly involves some data exports and coding of your message data, but it does sometimes take 8+ hours to complete in January. If you are a current M+R client, we can pull any data we have access to in order to minimize the effort required on your part. Our time will be billed just like other hours in our contract.
  • Our data analytics team will combine (anonymously!) your responses with data from dozens of other nonprofits to create a set of averages, trends, and key metrics. We take data confidentiality very very seriously. Only you will know how your organization stacks up in the end (and you will know sooooo much about it).
  • In addition to helping make the study, after it’s released you’ll get an individualized analysis comparing the data you submitted for your organization to other organizations of your size and type.

This sounds like a lot of work (and it is! Mostly for us!), but we do our best to make it fun and painless and really quite useful for you and your program. So if this sounds like your kind of a good time (🤓) complete the form.
