The annual M+R Benchmarks Study is a tasty fusion of digital fundraising, advocacy, and marketing data. Across channels and platforms, we end up with answers about what is working and what’s not, trends in nonprofit strategies, and insight into supporter behavior.

That’s the final product — but as is so often the case, the process itself is just as meaningful and rich. We hope you’ll join us and participate in our upcoming 2023 M+R Benchmarks

Mostly, that involves collecting and coding a big stack of data, which our analytics team will stir together (anonymously!) with data from dozens of other nonprofits to create a pot of averages, trends, and key metrics. Each edition of M+R Benchmarks is only as good as our ingredients — the more nonprofits who sign up, the more reliable and thorough the final study will be.

The deadline to sign up is December 2, 2022. If you’d like to join the fun, tie on an apron and fill out the consent form here. In addition to contributing to the study, after it’s released you’ll get an individualized analysis comparing the data you submitted for your organization to other organizations of your size and type.

Your data security and anonymity are VERY IMPORTANT to us. All-caps bold important. We whip the numbers with other organizations so your specific dataset isn’t identifiable.

We do our best to make the process easy by outlining what data you would need to pull. This mostly involves some data exports and coding of your message data, but it does sometimes take 8+ hours to complete in January. If you are currently an M+R client, we can pull any data we have access to in order to minimize the effort required on your part. Our time will be billed just like other hours in our contract.

Again, we take measures to make sure that your organization’s data is confidential and non-identifiable in the final study. Only you will know how your organization stacks up in the end (and you will know sooooo much about it).

If you would like to participate, fill out this form to let us know. And reach out to benchmarks@mrss.com if you have any questions!
